β€œA Taxi races to beat a blinking yellow light, causing an old pigeon to take flight, so slow is his gait, unfazed of the near miss to his life, a New York minute, a New York life, just a moment in time, in a place that has no specific rhyme. People come and go, as the city swallows them whole. Artists, designers, financiers, all burning with desire to achieve the American Dream; the city adds fuel to their fire always giving glimpses into the lifestyles they desire. No matter the odds and whether success is achieved, what makes New York beautiful is that everyone still believes in the power of their dreams. β€œ

Many people associate New York with its incredible skyline. To me New York is really about the people that are crazy enough to live here. Every one in New York is a dreamer, a doer a person who aspires to be something greater than what they are. Its a place of such incredible energy. Whenever I come home to New York after a vacation, I make sure to visit my fav shopping haunts but also the people that make it so incredible.

As I have said before I feel fashion can empower you or transport you to another world, fashion is meant to stimulate the imagination. So for my outfit I wanted my jewelry and clothing to represent the idea of New York as a place of contradictions.

I picked out a pair of beautiful green glass earrings from the 1930s, they have just the right amount of color and length to them. For my ring I went with a 14t gold 1980s green chrysoprase ring. Since the earrings were from the depression I thought they needed to be offset by a happier decade through the clothing. I ended up going for a roaring 20s dress (from H&M) to offset the depression era earrings.

I hope you enjoy my little saunter around the UES. Remember what makes New York so incredible is its inhabitants, so when the old man plays his sax support him by a smile or a little green love. If your walking in central park and you see the balloon guy don’t be afraid to ask for him to make you a flower, you’ll have the added bonus of making a new friend too.

The pictures are amazing, they really give the feeling of moving around, so great! I loved the earrings, they are so romantic! I agree with you, New York must be valued by the “crazy” people there… or simply the nice people who live there… it’s a melting pot and I love that!

I think it’s the same with LA, lots of people move there with dreams and hopes of making it big but the cost of living in both places are crazy. I can’t believe that your earrings are from 1930! Wow, that’s a gorgeous pair and what a great buy!
