Watch me run faster than a speeding bullet through a field of dried grass

I can drink a cocktail faster than a locomotive guzzles gas.

Being Superwoman rather than Superman, I have the added perk of being able to wear kryptonite jewelry.

Haha yes I know funny joke, actually the only superpower I possess is being able to find beautiful jewelry anywhere I go. That or maxing out my credit cards on shiny objects.

I suppose being superwoman would have its perks but I prefer being a jewelry hound! After all wearing earrings with a mask would be difficult and wearing the same outfit every day would be boring. As you can tell from my neon elephant print overalls I like to wear exciting clothing.

My daily clothing and/or jewelry must stimulate my imagination and make me feel something beyond just looking good. This may be why I gravitate towards vintage and handmade jewelry. There is something magical about wearing a piece of history every day or a piece that someone toiled on for many hours. Here is a closer look at the jewels I was wearing today, all either handmade or vintage:

Here’s a brief history on all the jewelry:

The antique Chinese Mala necklace that I am wearing is actually hand carved from peach pits and depicts the 18 Arhats, the humans who achieved nirvana according to Buddhism. The ring I am wearing is from the 1930s and is made from glass. I liked it because it kind of looks like a glass called vaseline (also usually from the 1930s) that was made from uranium which caused it to glow in the dark. The bracelet is an art deco (around the 1920s) Chinese export hand carved from real jade, onyx and gold. My earrings are glass and were made in western germany during the 1950s.

I hope you enjoy the read, let me know if you like to see more posts on how I style jewelry or if you like to see more jewelry history in the comment section!

Superman is my son’s favorite. Mine too, actually.
You’re totally a superhero in that incredible getup. Do you need a phone booth to change into it?
